Cervicocranial Syndrome
Cervicocranial syndrome is a misalignment of cervical vertebrae resulting in nerve irritation that may lead to neck pain, dizziness, facial pain, sinus pain or ear pain. The underlying cause of the pain could also be arthritic degeneration in the neck. This syndrome is also called Barre-Lieou syndrome or posterior cervical sympathetic syndrome.
Cervicocranial syndrome is sometimes confused with occipital neuralgia. Occipital neuralgia involves pressure or irritation to the occipital nerve that travels from the second cervical vertebrae up the back of the head bilaterally. Symptoms often include headaches that originate in the upper neck and travel up the back of the head and behind the eyes. This syndrome is also called C2 neuralgia or Arnold’s neuralgia.
The chiropractors at Frisco Spinal Rehab are well versed in both conditions and can help you get a proper diagnosis as well as go over treatment options.
